Over the last to years it has been an honor to learn along with J. Leia Lima Baum at the Fashion Institute of Technology. I am also honored to be promoting Morris Jumel Mansion: a staple in the historic house community of New York City. I look forwarding to hearing from those that can attend what their thoughts were.
Promotional literature below.
In "The Quixotic and the Exotic: Cultural Hybridity in Textile Design in the 18th Century," designer and fashion historian J. Leia Lima Baum will delve deep into the cosmopolitan origins of classic Western dress, echoing with careful scholarship some of the central themes of Yinka Shonibare MBE's work. Following J. Leia's presentation will be a curator-led tour of MJM's Yinka Shonibare exhibition, "Colonial Arrangements." Admission is $20, $15 for members and $10 for students. Space is limited.
